Job Function
Reporting into the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be based out of Baltimore, MD and will be responsible for will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility by overseeing all aspects of maintenance activities. They will lead a team of maintenance technicians, electricians and installation technicians as well as work alongside engineers, driving a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, optimizing equipment performance, and developing and implementing maintenance strategies to enhance the longevity of our site's assets.

Responsibilities
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety awareness among maintenance personnel. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and address them proactively.
- Maintenance Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the maintenance team, setting clear expectations, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Assign tasks, outline priorities, and provide guidance as needed to ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and reduce maintenance costs. Develop and implement innovative maintenance practices, technologies, and systems to enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, review, and revise Standard Operating Procedures for maintenance activities to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. Regularly communicate updates and changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Provide comprehensive training programs for maintenance personnel to ensure proficiency in maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Collaborate with HR and training departments to develop customized training modules based on identified needs.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish KPIs and performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness of maintenance activities. Analyze data and generate regular reports to track progress, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize maintenance processes.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effective maintenance solutions. Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to achieve budgetary targets.
- Union Relations: Foster positive working relationships with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Address any employee concerns or grievances in a timely and constructive manner, seeking to resolve issues through open communication and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, preferred but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance department supervision, preferably in a manufacturing, chemical manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance and/or reliability experience with industrial equipment and/or manufacturing systems.
- Familiarity with unionized work environments and collective bargaining agreements.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and maintenance best practices.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Solid understanding of budget management principles and experience in managing maintenance budgets.
