Summary
Plant Operator I is responsible for safely, reliably, and efficiently operating boilers, ancillary equipment, and multiple chilled water process. The ideal candidate must be familiar with cooling equipment facilities that utilize refrigeration systems and thermal storage to meet the comfort cooling requirements of our customer service locations as well as the distribution system. The Plant Operator I oversees the operation of assigned plant and distribution system This is an hourly full-time position. This position is in Tulsa OK and reports to the Assistant Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies
Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by assisting in preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner
Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot plant equipment to include piping systems, valves, traps, pumps and boilers
Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled
Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Must be able to work overtime as required
Required to qualify Boiler Operator and Plant Operator
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
HS Diploma or GED
Minimum 5 years’ experience in steam or equipment operations and maintenance or related experience
City of Tulsa Stationary Engineer License required
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of boiler and chilled water plant operations
Universal Refrigerant Handling License
Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
State of Oklahoma High Pressure Boiler License
6G Welding Certification
Physical Requirements
Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening
Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 75 feet and to tolerate confined spaces
Ability to lift, maneuver and transport up to 50 lbs. This includes turning valves that vary in weight.
Ability to work in elevated temperatures
Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and insurable by Company's vehicle insurance carrier
