General Description of Role:
The director manages multiple teams led by Project Managers/Senior Interior Designers. Has ultimate responsibility for the performance of the teams, promotes VDG values/culture, responsible for resource management, quality, and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee Tenant Solutions and Landlord Solutions teams
• Foster positive studio environment, resolve conflict, lead by example
• Provide constructive feedback to ensure teammates are always learning/ growing
• Manage expectations of Project Manager/Senior Interior Designers and teammates
• Be approachable/supportive/encouraging of all teammates
• Promote an inclusive environment, demonstrate fair, consistent, and objective evaluation of each situation/teammate to establish trust in the team and maintain confidentiality
• Develop team leads in core responsibilities for their roles, set goals with project leads for each team, check in regularly
• Mentor all teammates in the execution of their responsibilities with the assistance of the Project Manager/Senior Interior Designers
• Conduct performance reviews with the assistance of the Project Manager/Senior Interior Designers, provide clear paths for growth for all teammates
• Lead staff forecasting and recruitment for corporate studios, including interviews through hiring.
• Consistently meet with Project Manager/Senior Interior Designers to discuss teammate performance, workload, team needs, scheduling, processes
• Be knowledgeable about projects within the teams
• Prioritize and effectively meet deadlines/provide high quality service to clients. Attend project meetings as needed
• Provide QC support on all projects.
• Prepare project budgets proposals, schedules, and revenue forecasting.
• Maintain and build upon existing client relationships, participate in business development to gain new clients
• Participate in pitches for new work or renewal of existing work
• Keep a pulse on client satisfaction, solicit feedback and areas of improvement.
• Coordinate on-boarding with leadership team and new teammates.
• Perform lessons learned from post-mortem on projects with team.
• Manages PTO requests, expense reports, and timesheets of teams.
• Coordinate workflow between studios when projects are shared between them
• Review contracts for projects with firm counsel.
• Establish and maintain project success measures.
Requirements
- Accredited professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
- Focused experience (15 years) in Workplace and Landlord Tenant Design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Strong project management and leadership skills
