Title: Lead Bartender
Reports to: Clubhouse Manager
Vicmead Hunt Club, located in Wilmington, Delaware, was founded in 1920 as a foxhunting club. Though the activity of foxhunting has ceased, the Club remains full of vibrant activities such as golf, tennis, squash, paddle tennis, swimming, dining, and special events. Bidermann Golf Course is home to the 18-hole course sitting on the quiet landscape of Winterthur. The Club, in its unique ambiance, offers two dining facilities at Vicmead and Bidermann, on and off premise catering for special events such as weddings, golf outings and holiday parties. Vicmead and Bidermann Golf Course are very well known to many Club Managers, Golf Professionals and Golf Course Superintendents as
“A Very Special Place”.
Objective:
The Lead Bartender assists the Clubhouse Manager with the operation and management of beverage operations. They are responsible for ordering and distributing all beverage products for both campuses. In addition, the Lead Bartender orients and trains all bar staff, as well as assists the Clubhouse Manager in the writing of the employee training manual. The Lead Bartender also provides supervision and floor support during member dining, Club events, and catered events.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This is a supervisory position.
Duties Include:
- Supervise the activities and personnel for Beverage.
- Render professional advice, opinions, assistance, and services on related operations.
- Ensure Clubhouse Manager is fully informed.
- Render professional opinions and assistance in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, and personnel discipline, as needed.
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Assist in overseeing beverage operations of member dining, Club events, and catered events.
- Maintain a high level of staff and member visibility by interacting with all on a regular basis.
- Participate as an active member of the Food/Beverage management staff in improving the service and operation of the Club.
- Complete daily reports on a per shift basis in accordance with established standards.
- Assist Clubhouse Manager in maintaining Point-of-Sale system as related to beverage, including documentation, training, and updating menu items and pricing.
- Secure building facilities according to proper procedures, as scheduled.
- Complete daily walk through inspections of clubhouse and facilities to maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of bar areas, storage areas, glassware, and equipment.
- Handle member and guest complaints and/or issues with full discretion to act accordingly.
- Maintain various products/supplies for all beverage items including:
- Liquor, beer, wine and soda
- Non-alcoholic beverage supplies and mixers
- Glassware
- Order, receive, store and maintain beverage inventory level on a regularly established timeline.
- Work with Clubhouse Manager to create wine lists and other beverage related promotions for Club sponsored events and private parties.
- Issue all liquor, wine, beer, soda, and other beverage products for tracking on consumption sheets for Club events and private parties, both on and off premise.
- Conduct monthly beverage inventory using proper inventory procedures.
- Track all employee Delaware Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Certifications and notify individuals when their certification is expiring.
- Act as floor support in a supervisory role at Vicmead during lunch and dinner services, Club events, and non-member and member catered events.
- Oversee Bidermann Bunker & Saturday/Sunday Happy Hour
- Continue to learn and follow trends in the industry that pertain to not only their growth but those around them.
- Consistently promote Club cultures and traditions.
- Assist management in ensuring facilities, supplies, and equipment are in good working order and aesthetically pleasing.
- Ensure safe working conditions for all personnel throughout Club operations.
- Recommend industry trends for incorporation in Club events and happenings when applicable.
- All other duties assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Works indoors and outdoors
- Varying schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
Requirements:
- Ability to follow and give verbal instructions to all staff.
- Ability to supervise subordinates.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp and bend.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly.
Acceptable Experience/Training;
- Advanced knowledge of hospitality and beverage operations
- Must have dependable transportation to and from job. Note: Club is not on regular bus route
- Current Delaware Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Certification
