Why Victaulic?

Becoming a Safety Specialist means being at the forefront of safety practices for a company that values both your professional growth and the safety of its employees. You'll play a critical role in ensuring compliance, facilitating safety programs, and maintaining the well-being of employees.

About The Role:

As a Safety Specialist, you will take charge of implementing, managing, and improving the day-to-day safety operations across multiple facilities. This role is crucial in fostering a world-class culture of safety, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with all safety plans, policies, procedures, and regulations. You will work closely with facility managers and the Corporate Safety department to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, while promoting a culture of safety and well-being. This role involves both the facilitation of existing programs and assisting with the development of new initiatives, as well as occasional travel to support different locations.

Key Responsibilities and What You’ll Do:

  • Committee Leadership - Lead the facility and US Branch Safety Committees, leading safety initiatives, improvements, and promoting safety awareness across the sites.
  • Safety Training - Monitor, develop, and, in some cases, lead safety training at multiple US branches to ensure all employees are well-informed and the company is compliant with safety regulations.
  • Lead Safety Programs: Implement and enhance safety and health programs across multiple US branch and fabrication facilities. Use performance metrics to track and improve safety initiatives.
  • Incident Management - Oversee the management and thorough investigation of safety incidents to identify root causes, assist with management of workers’ compensation claims, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety Audits - Conduct comprehensive annual safety audits at multiple US branches to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Reporting and Representation - Prepare and present safety reports to upper management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas of concern. Additionally, represent the company during government audits/inspections, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met and any findings are addressed.
  • Hazard Identification and Elimination - Facilitate and enhance the hazard identification program to proactively eliminate, mitigate, and manage potential risks across multiple US branches.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Continuous Improvement - Monitor and stay updated on government safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and company safety requirements.
  • Workplace Visibility - Maintain a visible presence in the workplace to engage with employees, provide guidance on safety matters, and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability as well as monitor the workplace to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures, providing input and support to align with company needs and standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and leaders to integrate safety considerations into all aspects of operations, align safety goals, and build strong relationships to enhance the overall safety culture.
  • Ensure equipment/machinery is safety and compliant by participating in the design, review, and installation processes.
  • Manage safety-related documentation and ensure all records are accurately maintained and easily accessible.
  • Support incident response efforts and coordinate with emergency services as necessary.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial safety with demonstrated success in managing safety programs, preferably within a global manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, workers’ compensation, and industrial safety practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly between multiple US branches and other non-company sites as needed.
  • Highly organized, technically proficient, and hands-on problem-solver with strong analytical, interpersonal, and risk assessment skills as well as experience and proven abilities in implementation, coordination, and follow-through.
