Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our non-profit organization towards achieving its mission and strategic goals. The Executive Director is the chief operating director of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for the general and active management of the business of the corporation. With the Board of Directors guidance and directives, the Executive Director is responsible for determining the vision and goals of the organization along with the implementation of the necessary measures to accomplish them. This position is fully remote, with the occasional commute into Brainerd for meetings as needed.
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and update policies consistent with the best interests of the organization including employment, administrative and fiscal.
- Hold regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings to facilitate consistent oversight of the organization. Act as secretary and retain records for Board of Directors.
- Responsible for the administration and strategic plan of the organization.
- Develop, implement, analyze, and manage annual budget.
- Accounts payable and receivable in accordance with organization budget. Maintain records and other appropriate accounting procedures as delineated by the fiscal policy of the organization.
- Payroll oversite including approval of timecards and providing required information to accountant.
- Maintain records and prepare reports for accountant to complete quarterly and year-end reports, state and federal taxes including Form 990, and Charitable Organization Annual Report.
- Write grant applications as necessary to maintain the fiscal health of the organization.
- Responsible for grant administration by maintaining records detailing all income and expenses for each grant. Adhere to the requirements of each grant to ensure compliance. Record and report required financial and statistical information to each grantor as required in their grant agreement.
- Supervision, training, delegation of duties, and oversite of all organization staff.
- Responsible for Human Resource duties of the organization.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other nonprofits and government agencies.
- Represent the organization in the community and at community events.
- Perform all duties of Victim Advocate and Volunteer as deemed necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Abilities

- 4-year college degree in related field or comparable experience
- Budget planning and management
- Supervisory and management experience
- Knowledge of grant application, compliance, and reporting
- Experience in accounts payable and receivable
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license, current insurance, and personal vehicle
- Victim advocacy training/experience and/or relevant background/experience in law enforcement, criminal justice, human service or another related field
- Adherence to program policies and procedures
- Public speaking skills
- Excellent written, interpersonal relationships, and organizational skills
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks
- Ability to learn internal software programs
- Understanding of office procedures regarding document formation and handling
- Ability to plan, organize and work well with others, both internal and external parties
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other general crime providers and victim organizations in a professional manner
- Capacity to sustain a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
- Demonstrate independent thinking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Ability to empathize with victims of crime

Physical Demands
