Job Description
Title: Lifeguard
Qualifications:
- Effective communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to problem solve in a fast paced work environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting.
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Qualified to be employed as a Lifeguard per Civil Service and NYS Education Department guidelines.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a current Lifeguard Training Certification
- Current ARC Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer CRP/AED, or equivalent certification
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and maneuver general pool materials and other objects as needed.
Responsibilities Shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend meetings as needed
- Follow directives (written, oral, electronic)
- Regular use of school email
- General lifeguard assignments
- Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to pool or wading areas
- Teaches in swimming instruction program
- Applies resuscitation techniques and otherwise renders first aid
- Assists in operating chlorine and other swimming pool equipment
- Keeps records and makes reports as required
- Other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the supervisors.
- Maintain Data Security as applicable.
- Maintain confidentiality with staff, students, and family information.
- Operate in a respectful, responsible manner
Reports to: Director of Athletics and Physical Education
Salary: Lifeguard (Junior Per Diem Status): $15.50/hour
Lifeguard (Senior Per Diem Status): $16.37/hour
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $15.50 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
Work Location: In person
