JOB
Under basic supervision, assumes the responsibility to perform lifeguarding duties for various aquatic programs. Duties include but are not limited to preventing accidents, effectively enforcing pool rules and regulations, instructing swim lessons, accepting entrance fees, facilitating changes, communicating effectively with staff and patrons, and completing other related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure rules and regulations are adhered to by patrons through the observation of swimmers’ activities and behavior in and around the pool and surrounding areas.Instruct swim lessons.Perform rescue techniques as necessary. Eliminate or minimize hazards.Prepare and complete written reports.Perform general pool and equipment maintenance and water chemical testing. Accept entrance fees.Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work is performed in an outdoor environment, exposing the incumbent to typical outdoor conditions. Physical demands range from moderate to strenuous, requiring he ability to stand, stoop, reach, bend, climb, lift, pull, and swim while wearing swimwear. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. The incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. The incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours when required and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
