Under general supervision, locates underground pipelines, water facilities, and City-owned asset facilities within the City's Water District service area and boundaries; performs related duties, as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: •Receive and prioritize Dig Alert tickets to ensure timely response and accurate location services. •Coordinate with field staff to identify and verify the location of City asset utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems for assigned projects.•Meet and collaborate with supervisors, field, and water supply personnel and/or contractors to discuss utility location tasks and project details.•Locate underground water, sewer, and storm drain facilities, utilizing a variety of underground utility location technologies, such as, but not limited to, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), handheld subsurface utility location devices, magnetic locators, and plastic water pipe locators. •Document and map utility locations and City assets, ensuring accurate record-keeping and mapping of the water system and related infrastructure.•Review maps and other areas that require utility and/or asset facility location verification utilizing a variety of technology and equipment such as iPads, laptops, asset management software, Geographic Information System (GIS), and Global Positioning System (GPS).•Accurately mark offsets, install stakes, and place location feathers as necessary to properly delineate project areas.•Assist in updating and maintaining documentation related to the City’s water system and asset management, including tracking changes and maintaining accurate records.•Maintain and properly care for assigned vehicles and equipment. •Assist with the preparation and documentation of asset damage incidents and claims. •Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.•Safely operate City vehicles and equipment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, both indoors and out, with exposure to wide temperature variations, noise, vibrations, fumes, grease, machinery and its moving parts, odors, and dust. Physical demands require bending, stooping and frequently lifting moderately heavy and heavy objects. Must be able to lift 100 pounds. Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, communicate verbally and in written form with great facility, and must be able to be understood. Incumbent may be required to respond to emergencies after regular working hours and on weekends, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings and/or varying shifts.
