Under basic supervision, assumes responsibility for various recreational activities; assists with scheduling and supervision of City facilities for recreation programs and activities; plans and directs youth and adult programs and lesson; trains and directs the work of part-time and volunteer staff; and performs related duties, as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Assist the Recreation Supervisor or Coordinator in organizing, planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating various recreation activities, including youth programs (summer camp and preschool), youth and adult sports, youth and adult aquatics/swim lessons, youth and adult classes, and special events.Assist in training, scheduling, supervising, and directing the work of part-time and volunteer staff.Monitor the assigned area for safety and appropriate behavior, and enforce rules and policies according to the assigned program and/or area.Open and close facilities, set up classrooms, rooms, or areas, and perform general maintenance, as required. Assist with the implementation of scholarship programs. Assist with the production of marketing materials.Supervise the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities.Prepare and follow up on incident reports and make recommendations for resolutions.Maintain records and files.Conduct cash handling duties. Attend staff meetings and community interest group meetings as assigned. Serve as a source of information for the public regarding all recreation programs.Safely operate City vehicles and equipment.

Community Recreation/Preschool: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, exposing the incumbent to the typical conditions encountered in these environments. Physical demands are moderate and include activities such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting and moving tables, chairs, and equipment. The incumbent must be able to see and hear within the normal range, with or without correction, and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form and must be able to be understood. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and possess the stamina to work long hours and overtime if assigned. The incumbent must also be willing to work an irregular schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts, and respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.Aquatics: Work is performed outdoors, exposing the incumbent to the typical conditions encountered in this environment. Physical demands are moderate to strenuous and include activities such as standing, stooping, reaching, bending, climbing, lifting, pulling, and swimming while wearing swimwear. The incumbent must be able to see and hear within the normal range, with or without correction, and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form and must be able to be understood. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and possess the stamina to work long hours and overtime if assigned. The incumbent must also be willing to work an irregular schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts, and respond to emergencies after regular working hours.
