After School Care Worker
Summary
An After School Care Worker provides support and work to assist lead mentors in a variety of functions, including observing, supervising, guiding and directing children. Additionally, assisting with organizational duties, and optimizing a safe and nurturing learning and play environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Helps to ensure the safety and welfare of the children and protects each from physical or emotional harm. This includes performing all tasks with an appropriate level of confidentiality.
- Provides an professional environment where everyone can have a positive experience throughout the day.
- Maintain appropriate communication and treats all children, families, and staff members with dignity and respect, and allow for individual differences.
- Supervises and interacts with children at all times; mealtimes, rest periods, restroom times, play times, and activity times.
- Familiar with all health and emergency policies of the program and ready to implement them when necessary.
- Helps with general housekeeping tasks.
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by our ministry. Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate behavior, expression of emotions, as well as role modeling.
