WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.
They will also meet the following qualifications and possess these preferred skills :
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Teacher License (or interest in a licensure program)
Competency in using technology in the classroom setting
Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL ACCOMPLISH
Writes goals and objectives for IEPs using state’s special education software, such as ISTAR.
Administers and interprets individual formal and informal assessments and measures student achievement of, and progress toward, their objectives and goals.
Participates in IEP meetings and provides necessary documentation, as requested.
Provides progress reports to parents as stated in the IEP, maintains timely communication with all parents / guardians concerning student progress, and provides a clear picture of the curriculum and high expectations.
Use the state standards and curriculum to create rigorous, objective-driven, arts-infused lessons aligned with curriculum maps.
Differentiate for individual students based on their unique learning needs
Develop standards-aligned, measurable, ambitious big goals that will increase student opportunities for achievement; assess and track performance against these goals.
Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time.
Use data to reflect on the effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice.
Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
Use feedback from the Principal and Director of Instruction to update the Individual Professional Development Plan.
