Mental Health Counselor

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join a team of professionals, committed to providing high-quality evidence based mental health and substance abuse services. The successful candidate will work directly with individuals, families, and groups and use proven therapeutic methods to help clients achieve the best possible mental health outcomes. The successful candidate will also actively help client's build coping mechanisms to guide clients through stressful situations. Your duties will also include listening to clients, asking necessary questions, and developing effective strategies to improve their lives.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate and work with treatment team, support networks, government resources, and community resources that are also working with your client's.

Responsibilities:

• Assess client's through detailed conversations, interviews, and observations to determine the appropriate testing or examination.
• Diagnose the patient’s mental and emotional disorders.
• Create effective treatment plans that include counseling, medication, or other services.
• Work with your patient and develop goals.
• Regularly discuss the treatment plan with your patient to identify faults or room for improvement.
• Educate appropriate coping mechanisms to help client's through tough situations. Record the patient’s progress and change their treatment plan when needed.
• Lead IOP or other Groups.
• Work with treatment team that could possibly include targeted case manager, peer support specialist, and prescriber.
• Other responsibilities as determined by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling.
• Current license with appropriate governing board (e.g. LPCA, LPCC, CSW, LCSW).
• Superb verbal and written communication skills.
• Aptitude to empathize with clients and help them open up.
• Good time management skills.
• Proven experience in developing effective treatment plans.
• This position will go between our Somerset office and our Mount Vernon office

This position will start with a 90-day contractual/probationary period. This position pays per billable hour with pay rate based on degree, license, and experience.

Pay: $32.00 - $39.00 per hour
