This is a district office position that involves overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs to support students with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Lead the development and implementation of innovative special education programs that align with the district’s strategic goals and comply with legal requirements.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all special education programs meet state and federal guidelines, including IDEA, and prepare reports to ensure compliance.
- Curriculum Oversight: Supervise the development and adaptation of special education curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities.
- Support Services: Oversee the provision of specialized services (e.g., speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral support) to students with disabilities.
- Faculty Development: Recruit, train, and mentor special education staff to build and maintain a high-performing team of educators and specialists.
- Collaboration: Work closely with general education departments, parents, and external specialists to integrate special education strategies across all Victory Schools locations.
- Program Evaluation: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of special education programs through data analysis, feedback, and ongoing evaluation.
- Parent & Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with parents, guardians, and community partners to support students with disabilities and their families.
- Leadership: Provide coaching and professional development to special education staff and principals, fostering continuous improvement and best practices in special education.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Educational Leadership.
- Must have a degree in Special Education (SPED) and a strong understanding of best practices in special education instruction.
- Proven experience as a principal for over 3 years, with a strong track record of leading schools to academic success.
- The ability to coach and develop all principals across the district, ensuring their success in supporting special education and inclusive practices.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations.
- Experience in program management, curriculum development, and educational services.
- Excellent leadership abilities, with a track record of motivating teams to achieve common goals.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives and maintain budgetary compliance.
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, parents, and external agencies.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Level One IVP fingerprint clearance card.
- A commitment to continuous professional development in special education and related fields.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
