What are the responsibilities and job description for the Studio Programs Manager position at VIDA?
Summary:
The Studio Program Manager (SPM) oversees studio programs and all aspects of the studio experience within the club. This includes managing instructors, implementing schedules, and using independent thinking, effective communication, and creative methods to deliver high-quality programming to VIDA members and prospects. The SPM will thrive in a people environment and keep a pulse on changing industry trends to quickly adapt. With an energetic and inspiring leadership style, this fitness leader will create exceptional studio experiences that challenge, support, and delight our members. The SPM reports to the Fitness Director (FD) and General Manager (GM).
Specific Responsibilities:
1) Develop, implement, and manage high-demand, experiential programs, including signature formats, specialty programs, equipment, and audio-visual systems.
2) Recruit, Recruit and Recruit, onboard, and manage world-class instructors, including outbound talent sourcing.
3) Reach and maintain 30% studio utilization across all programs. Increase baseline by 20% in first eight months, then by 10% every four months until 30% overall is achieved and sustained.
4) Perform bi-weekly evaluations to develop, reward, and/or discontinue the services of instructors. Ensure they are executing program elements and maintaining integrity of program definers.
5) Specialize in at least one studio and lead quarterly instructor trainings for those programs.
6) Create, implement, analyze, and adjust class schedules in accordance with club budget(s) and current and prospective member feedback.
7) Work in partnership with the Fitness Director and Marketing Team to improve, launch, promote, and communicate our brand and new club programs to increase studio utilization.
8) Attend classes on-site and in the competitive fitness space weekly to stay current with trends and at the leading edge of industry innovations.
9) Operate within company guidelines to align all programs with VIDA’s vision of a personalized, boutique studio experience.
10) Work with the GM to address equipment, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs associated with program fulfillment.
11) Cultivate and maintain a VIDA-specific social media presence to promote our brand and programs.
12) Collaborate with team members to drive membership growth and cross-promote all departments and sister companies, such as Personal Training, Evolve, Aura Spa, and Bang Salon.
13) Hold instructors accountable to the terms of their contracts, including utilizing MYZONE in the group and cycling studios, securing subs with notice, and keeping physical spaces ‘photo-ready.’
14) Survey members three times per year to identify preferences and trends that enhance the studio experience.
15) Work with the FD and GM(s) to establish and maintain group fitness policies and procedures.
16) Monitor and analyze class attendance data to make scheduling decisions. Submit weekly reports that support and communicate that analysis, including information on no shows, class cancellations, and scheduling changes.
17) Charge late cancellation and no show fees for programs, as needed.
18) Respond as directed to member comments, questions, complaints, and concerns.
19) Demonstrate proficiency in technologies and processes to be able to provide member support.
20) Support the Pilates and Fitness Directors by educating members, scheduling them in classes, and conducting follow-up to facilitate their participation in the programs and to hit revenue targets.
21) Adopt a ‘Social Director’ mindset and engage in monthly activities that will build community, such as facilitating themed classes, holding floor hours during prime times, staffing tables to increase program awareness, etc.
22) Submit group fitness payroll biweekly by Monday at 12:00PM.
23) Attend required club, department, and company trainings, such as daily club operations ‘Stand Ups,’ one-on-ones with the FD, one-on-ones with GM(s), monthly virtual ‘Kickoff Trainings,’ and auditions.
