Position Summary
The Director of Physics Services is primarily engaged in ensuring high standards in the planning / optimization, delivery and evaluation of radiation therapy, supervision of the physics and dosimetry services and in this capacity is responsible for ensuring the accurate and consistent performance of radiological equipment and for verifying the accuracy and adequacy of treatment plans and dose calculations. The Director of Physics Services for ECU Health Radiation Oncology (ERO) leads all physics services and assures the highest quality and safety in the delivery of radiation therapy, assuring the accurate deliver of treatment plans, and making certain that all required quality checks and monitors, inspections, maintenance, calibrations and verifications are performed, and assuring compliance with all applicable federal and state, radiation regulations and accreditation practice standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess a minimum Masters Degree in Physics with 5 or more years of experience.
- Doctorate preferred.
- Must be registered as an Authorized Medical Physicist on State Licenses granted to facilities in designated area of responsibility.
- Must be ABR certified in medical physics
- Requires at least 5 years of full-time experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist, including clinical experience with linac calibrations and QC, treatment planning system QC and routine use, radiation safety, IMRT planning and delivery, computer systems quality control and medical physics program documentation.
