We are seeking a VP/SVP, Head of Biology, the ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
Pipeline Leadership:
- Leverage prior experience and industry insights to build a diverse pipeline for a platform biotech and prioritize targets across different therapeutic areas (TAs)
- Progress projects from early discovery to clinical candidates.
- Lead and oversee the development and implementation of in vitro and in vivo assays to assess preclinical efficacy, safety, and PK/PD studies.
- Integrate data to provide a detailed understanding of the pharmacology of therapeutic molecules.
- Enable experimental insight into in vitro MOAs and their correlation with in vivo efficacy.
Team Management:
- Build, grow, and mentor a high-performing biology team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Provide leadership and oversight to ensure timely and high-quality project progression.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team and other R&D leaders to align biology activities with the company’s strategic objectives
External Collaborations:
- Identify, initiate, and manage productive collaborations with CROs and academic labs to drive projects forward
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, oncology, or biochemistry
- M.D./Ph.D. a plus
- 10 years of pharma/biotech industry experience beyond postdoctoral work, with a proven track record of advancing projects from discovery to preclinical development.
- A strong track record of leading projects from early discovery to clinical candidates exhibiting strong differentiation and success probability.
- Experience leading programs in multiple TAs will be viewed favorably
- Prior experience building a diverse pipeline for platform biotech’s.
- A broad familiarity with the current landscape of industry pipelines across TAs and insight into emerging programs/treatment algorithms in clinical development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive go/no-go decisions effectively.
- Excellent project management skills, managing CROs and facilitating productive interactions with academic labs and companies.
- Flexibility to adapt dynamically to changing priorities and lead teams through evolving challenges.
