What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Pharmacy Technician position at Vidor Family Pharmacy?
Specific Responsibilities:
- Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgement.
- Receive written prescriptions or telephoned refills requests.
- Gather and record information needed to dispense prescriptions.
- Store written prescription forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
- Notify pharmacists of patient or prescriber questions and medication warnings or interactions. Never try to answer these questions.
- Help pharmacists prepare prescriptions by counting, pouring and labeling medications.
- Keep pharmacy department supplies (bottles, bags, labels, staples, etc.) well-stocked.
- Order and check-in medications when they arrive from the suppliers.
- Prepare insurance claims and verify payment.
- Help patients find OTC when needed medications. Help stock OTC area when needed.
- Ring purchases on cash registers
- Perform housekeeping duties within the pharmacy.
- Handles sensitive customer information.
- Manage inventory in Rx area
- Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging the customer and identifying the customer needs as soon as you see them.

- Visually verifies and reads information (often in small print).
- Reaches overhead and below knees, including pulling, twisting, and bending.
- Cleaning, sweeping and emptying trash
