Position Summary:
As an Activities Assistant, you will work closely with our Activities Director and the healthcare team to plan, implement, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities for seniors. Your role will help create an enriching and enjoyable environment for our residents, encouraging social interaction, physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of daily activities tailored to the needs and abilities of our residents.
- Engage residents in group and individual activities such as games, arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise programs, and special events.
- Encourage resident participation and provide one-on-one support as needed.
- Maintain activity schedules and ensure that residents are informed and engaged in available programs.
- Support the documentation of residents participation and progress in activities.
- Foster a positive, friendly, and supportive environment, ensuring the safety and comfort of all residents.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to enhance resident care through activity-based therapies.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certification in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or related field is a plus.
- Experience working with seniors, preferably in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
- A passion for working with older adults and enhancing their quality of life.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt activities to the physical and cognitive abilities of residents.
- Creative, energetic, and patient with a positive attitude.
