Position Summary:
As an Activities Assistant, you will play a key role in organizing, facilitating, and supporting recreational and therapeutic activities designed to enhance the well-being and quality of life for our residents. Youll work alongside our Activities Director and team to ensure each resident has the opportunity to participate in activities that stimulate their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of individual and group activities tailored to residents needs and interests.
- Lead and facilitate a variety of recreational activities, including games, arts and crafts, social events, and physical exercises.
- Create monthly activity calendars and ensure their visibility to residents.
- Interview residents or family members to understand activity preferences.
- Assist residents in reaching activity locations within the facility.
- Conduct scheduled activities to promote residents' well-being.
- Document resident activity program attendance and progress notes.
- Monitor resident mood, behavior, and involvement in activities.
- Engage residents and families in activity planning.
- Conduct one-on-one activities for residents who benefit from them.
- Coordinate offsite field trips and transportation needs.
- Collaborate with other departments for seamless activity execution.
- Support Resident/Family Council meetings as needed.
- Create a warm, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere that promotes resident participation and interaction.
Qualifications:
- A compassionate, patient, and caring attitude toward seniors.
- Creative and enthusiastic with a passion for working with elderly individuals.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Previous experience in activities coordination, healthcare, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
