Job Title: Behavioral Health Clinician (Assessment)

Shift: (40 hours per week on average)
Job Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm – Full-Time (40 hours per week on average)
Base Location: Norcross, GA. 
Division/Department/Program: Housing Support Program

 

Under general supervision, counsel with emphasis on prevention and/or behavior modification. Works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. May help individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse, family, parenting, and marital problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem, and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.

 

The Housing Support program is comprised of multiple supports designed to assist individuals living in GHVP-subsidized permanent supportive housing to promote ongoing housing stability. All individuals enrolled in the Housing Support program must receive the following types of support:

 

  1. Assistance with housing search, leasing, and move-in processes.
  2. Purchase of initial household furnishing, deposits, household goods for the one-time move-in needs.
  3. Safety and wellness checks and housing safety inspections.
  4. Developing a Housing Stability Support Plan as an adjunct to an individual’s IRP.
  5. Early intervention to mitigate factors impacting housing stability (e.g., late rent payment, lease violations, tenant/landlord or property owner conflicts);
  6. Education on the roles, responsibilities, and rights of tenant(s) and the landlord/property owner.
  7. Assistance with the annual housing recertification and inspection process.

 

This program is provided to adults enrolled in GHVP to promote housing stability, wellness, independence, recovery, and community integration. Housing stability is measured by ongoing housing and by decreased number of hospitalizations/ER visits/incarcerations, by decreased frequency and duration of crisis episodes, and by increased and/or stable participation in maintenance of personal housing stability and wellness. Support based on the individuals’ needs is used to promote resiliency while understanding the effects of SPMI and lived trauma. The Housing Support staff will serve as the first point of contact for landlords/property owners for any issues arising with a supportive housing individual and will provide linkage to community; general entitlements; and psychiatric, substance use disorder, medical services, crisis prevention, and intervention services.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be on call for coordinators in the event of crisis interventions needed and participate in on call rotation to provide assistance to individuals after hours and on weekends, one week per quarter.
  • Assist Director with crisis de-escalation techniques including determining if an involuntary admission (1013) is needed for an individual for safety needs.
  • Carries a floating caseload for visits/sessions as identified by assigned coordinators to assist in therapeutic challenges/needs, which can include providing individual counseling utilizing appropriate therapeutic techniques in order to assist individuals with stability in the community and active in their recovery.
  • Working closely with medical providers, other supervisors and  other programs to ensure individuals are referred to appropriate levels of care for continued supports and recovery
  • Complete behavioral health assessments for all individuals referred to the Housing Support Team along with updating individual’s case plans at designated times required by DBHDD.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND eligibility to be licensed AND Two years of supervised experience in the area of assignment.

Note: Some positions require: Full or Associate licensure in state of Georgia as LCSW, LPC, LMSW,  or LAPC.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with the Severe and Persistently Mentally ill population, co-occurring population, and substance use population.
  • Full licensure in state of GA. as LCSW or LPC.
  • Training and experience in a variety of short term evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Knowledge of CareLogic.
  • Experience working in a high stress, fast pace environment within the community.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time

Requirements/Competencies

  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, move about, hear and speak.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
  • Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
