Shift: 30 - hours (per week average)
Job Hours: Times May Vary - Mostly 1st shift with evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday
Base Location: Newton Center
Division/Department/Program: Newton - Community/Court Services/Newton Drug Court

 

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides professional therapeutic services to people with addictive disease and possible co-occurring addictive disease/mental health. 

 

Providing individual, family or group therapeutic counseling and/or educational and skill development sessions as indicated in the service plan. Monitoring consumers’ progress and compliance with the service plan.  Writing timely progress notes that relate directly to the treatment outcomes described in the service plan.  Assembles, analyzes, and interprets new/updated information about the consumer in order to reassess treatment needs. Identifies unmet needs, reviews available resources, and modifies the treatment plan as indicated. Requests treatment authorizations and re-authorizations within required time frames.  Provides and bills only those consumer services that are authorized in the service plan

 

May serve as a case manager to facilitate and ensure communication, linkage, and continuity of care between consumers, physicians, other organizational components, community resources and service providers.   Establishes linkages and coordination of services with community agencies.  Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community service providers. Informs consumers and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides case management to the clients in the Drug Court.
  • Research and vets’ community resources and connect clients with these resources. 
  • Conducts GPRA Assessments (Intake, 6-month Follow-Up & Discharge) for SAMHSA grant
  • Develop treatment plans and updates as needed.
  • Conduct group, individual, and family counseling with clients in a Drug Court program.
  • Attends training for various evidence-based practices and provides these treatments with fidelity to the model/s.
  • Writes timely progress notes for all services provided.
  • Works closely with Drug Court case manager and coordinator.
  • Function as a member of the Drug Court  team.
  • Attend Drug Court staffing and court sessions on a weekly basis. Communicates with the Drug Court teams and keeps them updated on client progress.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND eligibility to be licensed in state of Georgia as professional counselor, social worker, or marriage and family therapist at the associate level (LAPC, LMSW, LPC, LCSW or LAMFT) AND Two years of supervised experience in area of assignment.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Fully licensed LAPC, LMSW, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT
  • Certification as an Addiction Counselor (CAC I or II, CADC I or II, MAC, CAADC, etc.)
  • Experience working with clients involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Experience working with clients with addictive diseases/co-occurring mental health/addictive diseases.  

 

 

Requirements/Competencies:

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
  • Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
