Division/Department/Program: Substance Abuse (SA) Residential 
  

Working as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in an Intensive 28 Day Intensive Residential Facility, the Substance Use Clinician serves individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.

 

The Behavioral Health Clinician serves as a member of the treatment team a semi-independent AD residential program (SA Residential) and an ASAM level 1.0 program (New Rock SSUD).  The Behavioral Health Clinician reports to the Program Manager and works on a collaborative team of clinicians and peer coaches. Behavioral Health Clinician will work collaboratively with individuals served, co-workers and the community to promote long-term recovery goals that empower individuals to overcome challenges regarding their substance use and create and meet their own recovery goals. 

 

We provide person-centered care and assist with implementing our programming based on evidenced-based practices for substance use, trauma informed care, and long-term recovery support.  The position requires flexibility in job tasks and scheduling to accommodate needs of the facility to include some weekend and evening coverage.  This facility requires alternating holiday coverage between all staff.

 

Under direct supervision, BH Counselor will assist with care coordination, individual counseling, orientation of new residents, group facilitation, and billing FFS individual and group sessions. Additionally, BH Clinician with assist with overseeing patient flow and ensuring the center’s administrative needs are being met as needed. Assists with transitions of care in a timely manner, assists with linkage to community resources, schedules and tracks appointments with VPH providers, coordinates transportation for clients as needed.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •      Collaborates with the client in preparing an initial individual service plan that utilizes assessment data, diagnostic formulations, identified strengths, needs, preferences and resources to develop appropriate goals and objectives.
  •      Completes face-to-face comprehensive assessment to identify problems and service needs and develop individualized service/treatment plans.
  •      Conducts orientation sessions with new residents – review rules and guidelines, orient to paperwork, explore linkage needs (i.e. transportation, food stamps, specialty doctor’s needs), complete documentation of session in CareLogic.
  •      Places assessment documentation and supporting data in the individual’s medical record and establishes initial Treatment Plan.
  •      Completes and submits initial request for treatment authorization from Medicaid, State contracts, insurers or other payers according to requirements.
  •      Provides initial program orientation, individuals’ substance uses disorders. Assesses individual’s treatment needs and assists him/her to develop self-directed individual treatment goals.
  •      Meets with individuals at established intervals to discuss progress toward goals.
  •      Works with the treatment team to identify unmet needs, review available resources, and suggest modifications to the treatment plan.
  •      Writes clear, concise, complete, grammatically correct, and timely progress notes that relate directly to the treatment outcomes described in the service plan.
  •      Completes discharge summaries and other documentation and reports accurately and timely.
  •      Assembles, analyzes, and interprets new/updated information about the client in order to reassess treatment needs.
  •      Serve as case manager to facilitate and ensure communication, linkage, and continuity of care between clients, physicians, other organizational components, community resources and service providers.
  •      Establishes linkages and coordination of services with community agencies.
  •      Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community service providers. Informs clients and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups.
  •      With a focus on group dynamics and building a therapeutic milieu, counselor provides group, family, and individual counseling, psychoeducation, skills-based training, and case management to individuals and their families/significant others.
  •       Designs counseling/education services that meet the individual needs of individuals served.
  •       Educates families/significant others on the addiction and recovery process and facilitates family support sessions as needed.
  •       Provides direct care support as needed to clients during intake, admissions and discharge process
  •       Observes and monitors client behavior on the unit as needed
  •       Other duties as assigned

 

Note: All clinical team members rotate on Saturday schedule working one Saturday every 6-8 weeks.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Fully or Associate licensure (LCSW/LPC/LMSW/LAPC). Experience working with individuals who are diagnosed with substance use disorder.  Experience in social service delivery and ECR.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  •         Experience providing SA treatment and Familiarity with ASAM
  •         Experience with group therapy
  •         Someone who is flexible and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
  •        Experience delivering group skills training using evidenced based materials
  •        Is FRIENDLY, KIND, and POSITIVE. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; enjoys working w/ others; is flexible, quick to adapt to changing, fast-paced environment. 

 

 

Requirements/Competencies:

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting/standing.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
  • Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
