Pump Truck Operator

The operator shall be responsible for driving a concrete pump truck to and from the job sites, operating the pump, and keeping the equipment clean and in good operating condition. The operator is expected to relate with customers in a professional, responsible manner. An operator must be flexible to the needs of the company and its customers.

When not operating a pump truck, will be trained to operate and maintain other types of equipment, to include Class IV and Class VII forklifts, Skid Steers, payloaders, and various lifts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Drive and operate the pump truck in a safe, conscientious, and lawful manner while complying with all company policies and procedures.
• Set up the system and clean out the pump after the job in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
• Control the operation of the pump, and output of concrete by directing the boom.
• Keep the pump and system washed and free of concrete and grease.
• Return system to appropriate location in the shop after use. Keep the shop area neat and orderly.
• Maintain all licenses, documents, and testing as required by law to operate assigned equipment.
• Must immediately inform job-site Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR of any unsafe job-site condition as well as any and all incidents and accidents, including injuries to you.
• Perform light repair of pumps; some maintenance is required. Know pump well enough to recognize problems and report them.
• Maintain excellent customer relations through efficient work and courteous service.
• Travel to various job sites, often out-of-town. Maintain log books, permits, expense reports, and receipts as required.
• Must be able to work long hours and overtime as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Must have a clean driving record and possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Must possess a valid DOT medical card.
• One to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Must be able to read and understand equipment and safety manuals.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Forklift and Skid Steer loader experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, employee will be regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Travel to project and job locations may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Employee must successfully pass a DOT physical.
• Must possess good manual dexterity to climb on and around pump truck in all weather conditions common to the area.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and to verbally communicate.
• Employee is frequently required to walk, often on uneven terrain.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is required to safely drive/operate assigned equipment.
• Employee is frequently required to sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Employee must be able to hear to levels required by FMCSA.
• Must be able to tolerate weather conditions including excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
