Nurse Practitioner (NP) Job Summary:
Vighter is recruiting healthcare professionals (HCPs) to conduct basic screening assessments and provide healthcare services to individuals detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
About the Position
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care, within their scope of practice, to patients, including children, pregnant women, and adults.
- Consults with Supervising Physicians, completes orders recommended/authorized by physicians.
- Performs history and physical assessment, behavioral health care, minor outpatient procedures, patient education, and refers any care beyond the scope of the medical unit to local medical facilities emergency departments or urgent care centers.
- Maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Valid, active, unencumbered license/registration/certification to practice healthcare in the state in which the candidate will work.
- Board Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Certification, Pediatric Nursing (PCNB) Certification, National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) is required.
- Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from one of the following approved organizations: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in detention/correctional and/or pediatric settings.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Work Environment:
The nurse practitioner will work in various locations near the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Florida.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and/or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to perform BLS/CPR if necessary and assist patients into/out of a wheelchair.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
