What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Security Dispatch Operator position at Vigilant Security Inc.?
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 7:15 AM TO 3:15 PM
The position is Saturday and Sunday 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM. Additional shifts throughout the week and weekend may be available from time to time. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour.
Employees must have a valid driver's license, their own transportation and be able to commit to consistently arriving on time for their scheduled workdays. Since we are a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week operation, this includes inclement weather conditions, as well as holidays.
In a nutshell, the job involves relaying alarm signals received in our Central Station to Police departments, Fire Departments and 911 Centers.
The ability to focus on attention-to-detail when dealing with addresses, directions, and numbers is a must.
Central Station Operators receive burglary, fire, hold-up, and other “critical condition” alarm signals from Vigilant Security customer locations and relay alarm information to persons responsible for responding to alarm signals. Alarm dispatches are made to police departments, fire departments, and ambulance crews. In addition, alarm information is relayed to Vigilant Security clients and to other persons they may designate.
Central Station Operators are also responsible for receiving incoming telephone calls to Vigilant Security Inc. and providing assistance to callers and/or transferring their call to the appropriate person within the organization.
Since Vigilant Security’s Central Station operation is highly automated, alarm signal activity will generally be light. At quiet times when processing alarm signals or other duties are not being performed, cable TV and access to the internet is available on our computer or on your wireless device.
Central Station Operators will be required to have good telephone and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with police-fire-ambulance dispatch centers as well as our customers. Operators must be articulate, capable of conveying a helping and concerned attitude, and capable of remaining calm during emergency response situations.
Good decision-making skills and the ability to work without direct supervision are also required. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must since lives and property may be saved or lost depending on the appropriateness of response.
Successful applicants must complete consent to background investigation and criminal history check prior to beginning employment.
You will be called for an initial phone interview after your resume is received. Appointments are required.
