What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purdue Extension: Camp Rave Counselor position at Vigo County, Indiana?
Camp Rave Counselor
Salary: $14.17 per hour
TIME REQUIRED:
- 40 hours per week
- June – August Monday through Friday
- 1 day of education and orientation and CPR class
Location: Booker T. Washington Community Center
General Purpose: Help supervise youth, grades K to 5 in a camp setting.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Be committed to the development of young people
- Involve campers in all scheduled activities while at camp
- Make sure campers are on time for programs
- See that campers carry out responsibilities such as cleanup, grounds cleanup, dining hall cleanup, etc.
- Participate and lead in camp activities
- Counsel homesick campers
- Be responsible for the health, safety and happiness of each camper in their group
- Participate in implementing the Camp Rave’s summer program
- Report any problems to your director
- Assist class instructors where needed in teaching or in managing campers’ behavior
- Assist camp director, permanent staff and agents, upon request, with special activities such as quiet time, flag raising/lowering, etc.
Qualifications:
- Must complete the Purdue 4-H volunteer application and screening process
- Must have valid driver’s licenses and operable vehicle
- Must be 18 years old or older college student
- Attend and pass CPR training
- Must abide by Vigo County Government and Chances for Youth organizations policies
