Viking Cold Solutions, Inc. is a Houston based energy efficiency technology company providing thermal energy storage (TES) solutions for cold storage facilities, food distributors, supermarkets, and restaurants. Roles and Responsibilities
The Chemical Engineer will primarily be responsible for development, improvement, and quality assurance of all phase change material formulas for use in Viking Cold’s thermal energy management technology. The Chemical Engineer will categorize and catalog formulas for thermal properties, energy density, sensible heat, cycle stability, and Safety Data Sheets. Responsibilities include research and development on phase change materials, specification of scaling procedures for large scale batch manufacturing, in-house production, and process control. The Engineer will develop analytical and computational models for transient heat transfer and system level models. Responsibilities also include researching and sourcing necessary raw materials, laboratory equipment, external testing services, and consultants.
Preferred Skills and Experience
* 2 years prior work experience in thermal energy storage or a related field
* Knowledgeable in chemistry and chemical batch processing – familiarity with freezing point depression and eutectics
* Background in heat transfer and thermodynamics
* Background in computational modeling (CFD) or system level modeling
* Experimental experience
* Design of experiments and data analysis
* Strong analytical problem-solving skills leading to applied solutions
* Product development
* Process development
* Project management for internal and external projects
* Project/team management experience
Education and Job Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required, with relevant experience
* Must be able to work independently with limited supervision; effective time management; effective verbal and written communication
* Able to legally work in the United States; pass a criminal background check, and pass a drug test
