What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at Viking Companies LLC?
Viking Construction Company of Florida is seeking an Assistant Superintendent that will will assist the Project Manager and the Superintendent with the daily construction activities described below at an assigned work site. While assisting the Superintendent with monitoring and enforcing quality control within deadlines, the Assistant Superintendent also incorporates sustainable development practices.
Skills/Knowledge/Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily activities and compile reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles.
- Inspect completed and in progress structures and sites for safety, compliance, and conforming to material and structural needs.
- Follows quality control plan performing daily quality and material specification inspections. Records findings and reports discrepancies to the Project Superintendent. Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Enforce safety and legal regulations to ensure a safe job site. Organizes and conducts weekly safety meetings and records attendance and topics.
- Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications.
- Works with the Project Superintendent to accomplish tasks as required to meet the project completion requirements.
- Manage subcontractor/supplier issues, site conditions and logistics, scheduling, change orders, and document conflicts.
- Employee will interact directly with the Project Manager, field workforce, subcontractors, vendors, utility companies, and other internal business departments. This position will require the applicant to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and as many hours necessary to meet the project requirements.

Education / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Degree/Certification in construction management or related field is preferred.
- 3 years of successful work experience in building residential construction, construction project coordination, quality control and safety.
- Experience in quality control inspection, building codes, construction safety practices and production of all phases of residential construction.
- OSHA 10 Certification and RRP Certification are a plus.
- MS Office with emphasis on MS Project; Procore experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Job requires constant movement, walking stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move 50 to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Constantly working outdoors – must be able to work in various types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements (extreme heat, cold, preparing for severe weather, etc.)
- Heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment, machinery, and electrical energy.
