What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at VIKING FORGE, LLC?
- Maintain and update any federal and/or state reporting requirements, including the OSHA 300, OSHA 301, and OSHA 300A
- Learn standards for federal and state safety requirements by going to trainings as requirements change
- Monitor safety on the shop floor on a regular basis, including regular walk throughs and audits of safety processes and procedures
- Company expert for safety requirements and procedures
- Work with other departments to develop their safety protocol and maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure that inventory has the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform jobs safely
- Manage training programs for the company:
- Forklift certification training
- First aid certification training
- Manage hearing conversation program for the company
- Supports all safety and environmental programs: Environmental Reporting, Forklift Operations, Hoist & Crane Operations, Lifting Equipment, Job Safety Analysis, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control, Respiratory Protection, PPE Program, Hazard Communication.
- Coordinate and maintain records for any BWC Industrial Hygienist annual testing
- Air quality
- Noise quality
- Manage janitorial associates
- Communicating with employees about expectations and performance
- Annual performance reviews of employees
- Interviewing for new employees as needed
- Managing janitorial requests that come up such as clean ups of special situations and locker clean outs
- Communicating with forge supervisors on a daily basis regarding the schedule and any safety issues
- Maintaining fire extinguisher replacement/inspection
- Maintaining first aid supplies
