Dredge Operator
Viking Marine Construction (Holland, Michigan) has an immediate position available for a Dredge Operator.
18" Hydraulic Cutter Suction Dredge.
MUST have 3 to 5 years of experience on similar dredges.
The job location is West Michigan dredging several Lake Michigan Harbors.
Yard Scale (yard scale is weather days, repair days, towing days, or any day that we are not digging) pay will be based on experience. Davis Bacon Wages apply while dredging. Davis Bacon Act Wages for a dredge Operator = $79.72 per hour (paid while digging).
Per diem is paid on non dredging days only. Per diem is $65 per day. You will be responsible for your own hotel/camp site.
Responsibilities for the Dredge Operator:
- Operating and maintaining the hydraulic dredge
- Completion of Daily Dredge and Maintenance Log
- MUST be motivated and able to work independently
- Be able to communicate well with the superintendent, boat operators, dredge engineer and deck hands
- Assist in Mobilizations/Demobilizations and repairs as needed
- Duties will include cleaning equipment, check fluids and grease daily
- Position will include some miscellaneous laborer
- Performing sounding wheel checks hourly
- Must be familiar with Hypack/Cable Arm - Clamvision Dredge Guidance Programs.
Requirements for the Dredge Operator:
- MUST have 3 to 5 years plus in dredge operation experience
- Must maintain a valid Driver's license
- Experienced in Marine Construction
- Heavy equipment experience a plus
- OSHA Certifications a plus
- Boating or Equipment Certifications a plus
- Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required
