The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all cost accounting activities within Viking, Lynx and the Viking Hospitality Group. This role ensures the accurate measurement, analysis, and reporting of production costs, inventory, and budget variances to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
- Prepare and analyze cost reports, including standard costs, variances, and inventory valuation
- Track and analyze manufacturing costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead expenses
- Develop and maintain detailed cost models for the appliance production process
- Collaborate with production and finance teams to create annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and report on budget vs. actual performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Oversee the accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and resolve discrepancies
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures across production and supply chain processes
- Work closely with operations to optimize efficiency and reduce waste
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain internal controls related to cost accounting and inventory
- Lead and mentor a team of cost accountants and analysts
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and finance departments to support business goals
- Manage and improve cost accounting systems, including ERP system maintenance
- Ensure accurate data entry and reporting through automated tools
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CMA or CPA preferred
- 5 years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing setting preferred
- Strong quantitative ability and ability to solve complex problems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reporting
- Excellent communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
- Proficiency with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma
