Villa Duchesne is seeking a part-time, long-term substitute teacher (0.6 FTE) for our Upper School Fine Arts Department for a three-month duration (mid-August through mid-November). The ideal candidate needs a strong background in ceramics, an understanding of art education principles, and the ability to inspire creativity in students of all skill levels. This role involves teaching foundational and advanced techniques in hand-building, wheel throwing, and glazing while fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. Kiln operation and knowledge is imperative for this job as well. This position requires that the candidate has a conferred bachelor’s degree in Art (master’s degree preferred) and has previous teaching experience at a middle or high school level.
The ideal candidate will also possess a commitment to using a variety of pedagogical approaches and differentiation strategies in the classroom, have experience using Google Classroom, and be dedicated to the success of each student.
