Description
Villa Duchesne is seeking a full-time Theology Teacher for our Upper School (grades 7-12). The Villa Duchesne Theology Department curriculum cultivates a personal and active faith in God through encounter with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Students develop a strong foundation in the Catholic faith, exploring its history, doctrine, worship, and application to contemporary life. Rooted in the mission and charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart and the Goals and Criteria, the theology curriculum empowers students to reflect on their relationships with God, themselves, and others, cultivating the virtues and skills necessary to live lives of faith, discipleship, moral integrity, service, and social action. This position requires that the candidate is a practicing Catholic, has a conferred bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in Theology or Religious Education, and has previous teaching experience at a middle or high school level.Villa Duchesne faculty members also serve as grade-level advisors and participate actively in the life of the school.

This includes differentiating instruction, facilitating thoughtful discussions on the intersection of faith and contemporary issues, and encouraging critical thinking and theological reflection. The ideal candidate must be committed to designing and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum that addresses the needs of adolescent girls.
- exhibit exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build strong rapport and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be adept at leading respectful dialogue on relevant topics for adolescent girls and creating a nurturing and intellectually challenging environment for students to explore their faith and spirituality.
- effectively integrate technology into the classroom and utilize a variety of student-centered teaching strategies to engage all students and promote active learning.
- demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, with a desire to stay current with research and best practices in theology, pedagogy, and adolescent development. The ideal candidate will actively pursue professional growth opportunities and contribute to the Theology Department's curriculum review and development.
- be actively involved in and committed to his or her Catholic faith. The ideal candidate will authentically share his or her faith with students and appropriately integrate it into the classroom experience.
