We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Assistant to join our Assisted Living team. For 3rd shift 40hr/wk 11:30pm-7am CMA
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) administers medications to residents according to the physician orders; administers medications in a safe manner with knowledge of and consideration of individual resident’s needs, diagnosis and current status; and administers medication according to the Villa Maria facility policy. The CMA’s priority is assuring resident safety in all aspects of their life and care.
*KEY JOB DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
General Duties.
(1) Receives pertinent information from the Nurse concerning residents and their condition.
(2) Administer oral, topical and drop medications. Performs simple procedures or simple treatments under the supervision of the nurse .
(3) Maintains accurate records that reflect the resident’s condition, medication and treatment/procedures.
(4) Assesses resident prior to drug administration. Utilizes judgment in administration of medications as indicated by resident’s status. Collaborates with NM if varying from prescribed treatment plan. Reports abnormalities to Nurse.
(5) Administers all medications in a safe and accurate manner. Assures that the resident takes the medication. Observes Right Resident, Right Medication, Right Dosage, Right Route, and Right Time Rules.
(6) Counts all controlled medications at the beginning and at the end of his or her shift.
(7) Assures that the medications are available by ordering medications with NM approval.
(8) Monitors expiration dates on all medications and treatment supplies, and informs the NM as needed.
(9) Maintains resident confidentiality.
(10) Participates in resident care as needed.
(11) Maintains clean and safe environment adhering to infection control standards. Cleans and stocks medication cart at the end of each shift.
(12) Monitors C N As and hall and completes compliance rounds at the end of the shift.
(13) Duties within scope of practice delegated by the NM.
(14) Will work in capacity of C N A when the Nurse or the Director of Nursing deems this necessary. Knows and understands all the C N A duties to complete this task.
(15) Observes infection control policies and procedures.
(11) Observes resident rights at all times. This includes respecting privacy, appropriate noise levels, calling the resident by his/her chosen name, etc.
(12) Works as a team member, realizing that “all” residents are his/her responsibility. Communicates in a positive manner, channeling concerns through the chain of command.
(13) Makes recommendations to management regarding methods for improving services provided to the facility.
(14) Monitors time organization in order to assure that tasks are completed in a timely fashion without overtime unless approved by the supervisor.
(15) RESIDENT RIGHTS.
a. Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.
b. When entering and attending to resident, respects resident dignity.
c. Knocks before entering.
d. Provide explanations for presence in the room.
e. Remain friendly and outgoing without extending time in room past that which is required to complete duties.

Qualifications
- Certification as a Medication Aide
- Proficient in medical administrative support and patient service
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Experience with EHR systems and vital signs monitoring
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care settings
- Basic life support certification
- Understanding of residents' rights and patient care principles
- Experience in urgent care or dermatology preferred
