What are the responsibilities and job description for the iExplore Teacher- Long Term Substitute position at Villa Nova Middle School?
Summary: The iExplore/Pathways instructor will facilitate pathway-specific learning in one or more areas that help students select appropriate career pathways of interest. The candidate must be flexible and create an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for students to make informed choices when selecting pathways entering 9th grade.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver lessons to instruct and assess students in iExplore/Pathways and modify as needed.
Develop, deliver, and revise rigorous, relevant, and standards-aligned course outlines, lesson plans, and assessments. Instruction will include all aspects of the iExplore/Pathways and incorporate collaborative problem-solving to apply knowledge and skills to real-world challenges.
Teach workplace skills, present opportunities related to business and marketing, and help students prepare for industry certifications, college, and careers from the TFS career guide or similar.
Plan, develop, and deliver lessons to instruct and assess students in iExplore/Pathway classes as part of a sequenced program of study.
Use provided lesson plans, develop new lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the appropriate curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to utilize the time available for instruction best.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress report.
Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to assess and help pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school department and/or self-selected professional growth activities that will include courses or activities related to instruction
Qualifications:
Applicant must hold a teaching certificate from the RI Department of Education with Middle School Endorsement. (Grades 6 through 8).
