We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Estimating Intern to join our team for the summer of 2025. In this role, you will assist our assembly cost estimating department in analyzing project costs, preparing estimates, and supporting various onboarding activities for newly awarded business. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cost estimation and financial analysis within a dynamic and collaborative manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for various projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine material requirements, labor hours, and equipment needs to produce accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information for competitive estimates.
- Conduct market research to obtain current pricing for materials and subcontractor services.
- Help maintain and update material cost databases to ensure data accuracy.
- Support the onboarding process for new business by collaborating with sales and operations teams to integrate new products into resource planning systems (e.g., MRP, ERP) and cost estimation workflows.
Requirements
Education/Skills/Abilities:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of cost estimation principles and practices is a plus.
