What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at VILLAGE ASSOCIATES INC?
Description
The Machine Operator will operate various pieces of equipment, be expected to learn many operational processes, and optimize production and quality outputs. The primary equipment of operation will be the Komax Zeta and related software and crimping equipment. The candidate will need to achieve targeted results in safety, production output, and ensuring internal and external customer quality requirements are achieved. Operators are required to assist in implementation of lean principles on continuous improvement idea.
Responsibilities:
Safety & Quality
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Be available to efficiently execute the production plan to ensure on time delivery to our customers
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
Technical
- Mechanical aptitude to perform daily maintenance tasks on the machines.
- Be able to trouble shoot machine issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintains the schedule and the flow of product throughout the line.
- Perform machine setups to include changeover of dies, terminals, and wires as required.
- Responsible for inventory and staging of wires and terminals.
Continual Improvement
- A change agent, sharing ideas and supporting improvement that drives impact in efficiency and financially.
- Understanding of metrics and efficiencies and the ability to improve on those efficiencies
Requirements
Education/Training:
- Technical Degree preferred with 3 years of machine operator experience (CNC, Water jet, etc.)
- Mechanical Background a plus
- ISO 9001 Knowledge
- Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
- Forklift certification a plus
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Problem solving: ability to generate ideas and evaluate potential solutions
- Flexibility - can adjust to change and tolerance for stressful conditions
- Willingness to take on tasks when asked
Travel Requirements:
- None
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift 10-25 lbs. for short periods; up to 50lbs occasionally
Materials and Equipment Utilized:
- Wire Cutting Machines(Komax Zeta, Komax Gama), Sonic Welders, Auto Crimpers(Odyssey, Z&F, Amp), Mini Applicator, Hand Crimpers Hand tools, Assembly Equipment, Metrology Equipment applicable to the industry, Computer and Testing Equipment.
- Safety equipment: Safety glasses, hearing protection as required, cut resistant gloves as required and steel toes in required area.
Working Environment:
- 100% - Manufacturing environment; clean, low to moderate noise, safety glasses required and other personal protective equipment where applicable
