What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fraud Analyst position at Village Bank?
Position Summary
The Fraud Analyst is responsible for reviewing and monitoring customer transactions to identify fraudulent activity such as account takeover, card and check fraud alerts, government benefits fraud that will be reported to the Senior Fraud Analyst for further investigation. The Fraud Analyst will assist in monitoring the Banks fraud trends that will be utilized for additional training to other business units and customers.
Responsibilities
Assists in maintaining a comprehensive enterprise wide Fraud Program including but not limited to:
- Internal and External Fraud
- Procedures governing the Banks Fraud Identification and Prevention Program.
- Procedures and reporting guidelines for identifying and escalating fraud across the bank.
Analyzes fraud alerts generated by the Banks fraud software and the Banks core processor and determines the appropriate response. Performs investigations related to fraud; consults with other members of ERM as well as Retail, Lending, and Operations during the investigation and resolution process.
Assists in training to ensure all departments are sufficiently trained on fraud policies and procedures.
Secondary point of contact for researching and resolving bank wide suspicious activity communicated from Retail, Customer Care, Loan Servicing and Deposit Operations departments.
Responsible for researching daily Large Item Returns (NSF, Altered/Fictitious, Fraudulent and Stop Payment checks) as well as initiating and approving twice daily ACH batches in the iBanking system.
Assists in building and improving monitored searches for fraud related activity. Assists in monitoring limits/thresholds/rules across the organization designed to minimize fraud. Ensures process exists to review changes to limits/thresholds/rules periodically.
Assists in maintaining expertise in all of the electronic delivery channels of products and services.
Responsible for researching and acknowledging Card Fraud alerts including unusual or excessive ATM and POS transactions
Responsible for researching and acknowledging BSA alerts including Government Benefits Fraud and Stolen Stimulus alerts
Assists in development, as needed, customer communication/education specific to fraud.
Supports Community Commitment Initiative by volunteering or attending Bank sponsored events, charitable events, and networking.

Experience
Advanced banking knowledge of products, fraud management, compliance, and risk management through previous experience of 2 years.
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation preferred.
Specific Skills Required
Must be able to analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions bank resources.
Must be able to perform a moderate level of mathematic calculations to support investigative analysis and reporting.
Must be moderately proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Must also be proficient in technology that the Bank uses to execute their specific duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to apply critical thinking in the application of policies, regulations and laws.
Must be able to identify and solve complex problems individually and as part of a group.
