JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Golf Operations, this position is responsible for managing multiple golf facilities, providing a wide variety of support services to the District golf and tennis employees, residents and guests, including full time and part time staff training and development. This position is also responsible for overseeing and managing the golf operations of multiple golf facilities and works cooperatively with other departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

  • Recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of staff including Golf Staff Supervisors, Golf Shop Sales Associates and Outside Golf Staff.
  • Implementation of policies and procedures among all managed staff.
  • Manage all golf services and operations.
  • Work with The Villages Golf Car Store and oversee the rental and maintenance of golf cars.
  • Manage the reservation system, starting and monitoring of play.
  • Track and verify all players and guests, golf cars, lockers, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate proper controls.
  • Manage the administration of the handicap program.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
  • Maintain close working relationship with the Superintendent, other golf professionals, and other departments.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of golf revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis for multiple golf facilities


Facility Management

  • Assist the Executive Director of Golf Operations with capital improvement planning and on-going improvements to facilities.
  • Create, improve, and expand for effective and efficient facility best practices.
  • Work in conjunction with DPM/CPM to ensure the routine maintenance, inventory, and safety inspections of all golf facilities and equipment are completed within designated timeframes and to standards established/required.


Incident Reporting

  • Follow District incident reporting protocols for all incidents related to self, residents and/or guests, including but not limited to health, safety, lost items and/or facility conditions by reporting same immediately to the Executive Director of Golf Operations at the time of such incident, or no later than the end of an assigned shift.


Supervisory

  • Train staff.
  • Perform yearly job performance review evaluations for direct reports.
  • Direct supervision of all facilities team members.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Additional

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university; or five (5) to ten (10) years related job experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PGA or LPGA preferred.


MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)


Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, management practices and office procedures.


Skills

  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multi-tasking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Abilities

  • Ability to read/write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


EQUIPMENT (Includes, but not limited to)

Position regularly requires the use of golf cart, golf equipment and office equipment, including but not limited to, telephones, computers and productivity software.
