What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Math Teacher 2024/25 School Year position at Village Green Charter School?
(1) Full-time position available for the 2024-2025 School Year.
Village Green is the ideal position for educators who are passionate about providing a personalized learning experience, with small-group instruction. With all class sizes capped at a maximum of 16 students, teachers can build strong, meaningful relationships, and provide targeted supports 1-on-1, or in small groups. At VGV, small class sizes allow creative students and teachers the ability to utilize our location in Downtown Providence to explore the city and engage in a variety of mobile learning activities; whether visiting PPAC for a performance or studying the effects of pollution on the Providence River. With opportunities available to enroll in dual-enrollment CCRI courses, students and teachers have endless opportunities to be creative, develop new skills, and take charge of their own learning experience. At the heart of this learning experience is our mission statement that says:
"At Village Green Charter School, we believe that education is the key to unlocking a world of opportunity and to empower our students to pursue their dreams, contribute to their communities, and make a positive impact on the world through real world experiences that incorporate innovative technology, a dual enrollment college experience, and internships with local businesses and community leaders that allow the free expression of creativity and personalized learning."
Opened in September 2013, VGV draws students statewide by blind lottery. In its first four years of existence, VGV posted the highest gains of any of the state’s high schools in the assessed content areas of ELA, math, and science and consistently outperformed its sending urban school districts. VGV has averaged a 98 to 100% graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate to schools including: Johns Hopkins, MIT, Xavier, and Wheaton.
VGV is the first RI school designed from Day 1 to be a competency-based, personalized blended learning model. It’s “competency-based” in that students only progress through their lessons after demonstrating proficiency. VGV has a highly successful “dual enrollment” program whereby students, in their fourth year, can attend a local college and take courses for college credit. It is very common for VGV students to graduate having already earned 9 to 12 college credits.
