What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Attendant - Part Time position at Village Management Services, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, keeps golf course play moving, enforcing play through rules as
needed and other golf course playing rules. Assists with the operation of the community golf driving range, cart and club storage; and performs related work as required. Work involves regular contact with other divisions, departments, residents, vendors, and the public. Communicates with other golf staff via radio and assists where needed and as requested by management or other golf staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
When performing the duties of Player Assistant:
Responsible to drive a designated golf cart to patrol course and keeps play moving. Determines who is authorized to play and instruct golfers in the proper care of greens, traps, and divots. Enforces play through rules as needed.
Acts as starter on Courses 2 or 3 when requested by Pro Shop
Carries sand in ranger cart and fills divots in Fairways as needed.
Repairs ball marks on the greens without interrupting the pace of play.
Advises and/or reports on the misuse of motorized carts; enforces 90-degree rule where applicable. Uses rule violation notebook and citations according to instructions.
Inspects and reports to golf maintenance any areas that need attention such as wet or
dangerous areas (drains without covers). Uses the handheld radio on a regular basis to communicate with golf shop.
Inspects course for broken or out of place stakes, replaces signs, ropes, and rakes. Picks up and properly disposes of any trash seen on the course (not materials or clippings left for removal by Golf Maintenance Crew).
In the morning, picks up mail from the Community Center Building and the daily sales reports from the Par 3 Course; returns all items to the Pro Shop Starter.

Regular Attendance Required. All duties performed on site for the Community
Duties may change at the discretion of Management
When performing the duties of the Cart Barn Attendant:
Checks electric Carts in and determines remaining battery charge; keeps batteries charged to proper levels; connects Carts to chargers at end of the day; cleans the Carts. Keeps track of activities on the upper putting green to make sure it is being used properly.
Drives the Carts from the Cart Barn to the staging area.
Duties may change at the discretion of Management
When performing the duties of the Driving Range Attendant:
Opens/closes driving range.
Records sales of range balls into the POS system, carefully check resident IDs of the range
users, keeps area clean and orderly.
Picks up balls on the range with picking unit and by hand in inaccessible places, runs through ball cleaning machine and fills ball baskets.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists in other areas of the golf course or clubhouse operations as required.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Golf cart, ball pick up the unit, ball cleaning machine, POS system, and handheld radio.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust, fumes, and normal outdoor elements.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive work experience involving public contact, or equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the following:
· of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
· of excellent customer service attributes
· of golf course playing rules.
· of division and department rules, procedures and functions.
· of the use of basic electronic equipment including handheld radios and computers
· to communicate pleasantly and effectively.
· to relate to the needs and concerns of senior citizens.
· to communicate effectively with various levels of management.
· to work a minimum of two days per week and fill in for more if needed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Usage of Golf Facilities while on duty is prohibited.
