Viillage of Baroda Treasurer Job Duties
General Duties
- Custody of all money, bonds other than official bonds filed with the Clerk relating to council members, mortgages, notes, leases, and evidence of value belonging to the village.
- Receive all money belonging to and received by the village.
- Keep an account of all receipts and expenditures.
- Collect and keep an account of all taxes and money appropriated, raised or received for each fund of the village and keep a separate account for each fund.
- Paycheck disbursement authorizations out of a particular fund for the purpose for which the disbursement was authorized.
- Assessing property and levying taxes
- Take deposit receipts for all money paid from the treasurer, showing the amount and fund from which payment was made. Upon settlement of the deposit receipts with the treasurer will file the deposit receipts with the clerk
- Verify Payroll on a bi-weekly and quarterly basis as a check and balance with Village Clerk.
- Complete portion of bank reconciliation and compare to the Village Clerk’s bank reconciliation.
Reports
- Treasurer will work with the Village Clerk and President on the last Thursday of each month:
- Amounts received and credited to each fund.
- Into which account it was received
- Amounts paid out from each fund during the preceding month.
- Amount of money remaining in each fund on the day of the report
- Completed reconciliation report for all funds.
- The treasure will then provide the above reports to the Council at each monthly meeting.
Accounts
- The treasurer will keep all village money in accounts authorized by the law.
- The treasure may not use, either directly or indirectly, the village money, warrants or evidence of debt for his or her own use or benefit, or that of any other person.
