Job Summary/Purpose:
The Village of Bensenville is seeking Seasonal/Summer Public Works employees to assist the Public Works department in completing outdoor assignments throughout the Village from May-August.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Summer Seasonals primarily work to complete tasks involving manual labor
- Some of the typical tasks of a Summer Seasonal are painting, janitorial, light carpentry, watering trees, tree planting, and setting up for special events
- Performs physical labor including street repair, cement work, manhole repairs, landscape restorations, storm sewer repairs, water distribution leaks, fire hydrant maintenance, valve maintenance, creek maintenance, and fleet maintenance.
- May assist in other public works projects
- Participate in and complete all mandatory training assigned.
- Summer Seasonal typically works during the months of May–August
Requirements /Abilities:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and a Safe Driving Record
- Must be able to understand duties assigned and possess mechanical abilities
- Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work 5 days, 7:00am to 3:30pm, 40 hours per week, not to exceed 1000 per calendar year.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the following basic life operational functions, climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform the following tasks: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
- Must possess the visual acuity to operate machines and equipment including close inspection of moving and small parts, using measurement devices, perform assembly and fabrication of parts, prepare maintenance records, and operate a computer terminal.
