Job Title: Wastewater Maintenance Technician I/II

Job Summary/Purpose: The Wastewater Maintenance Technician performs maintenance, repair, and replacement tasks at the Village of Bensenville’s 4.7 MGD WWTP, collection system, and lift stations. Responsibilities include maintaining plant machinery, piping systems, and equipment, while providing responsive service to the public.
Wastewater Maintenance Technician I: Entry-level position performing basic duties under supervision.
Wastewater Maintenance Technician II: Journey-level position with full duties and limited supervision.
Requirements (Technician II):
- 6-8 years of experience in wastewater/industrial plant maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to obtain required certifications within 1 year (IEPA Grade II and Grade IV).
- Skills in welding, metalworking, and equipment repair.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, valves, and pumps.
- Fabricate parts and install/repair pipes, valves, and plumbing.
- Operate heavy machinery and vehicles, assist with snow/ice removal.
- Maintain safety equipment and participate in safety training.
- Respond to after-hour emergencies.
Skills/Abilities:
- Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and work safely.
- Lead and train less experienced staff.
- Perform basic math and communicate effectively.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma and mechanical maintenance training.
- Ability to obtain relevant certifications.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Salary:
- Technician I: $56,929.96 - $65,046.32
- Technician II: $64,181.70 - $73,399.17
