Purpose of Position
The Summer Camp Staff will assist with leading activities and programs at Cottage Grove parks for youth, ages 5-11. Emphasis is on arts and crafts, music, sports, and active playground games including some field trips.
Position Accountability
General day-to-day supervision, administrative direction, and performance evaluation will be received from the Summer Camp Leader who may consult with the Deputy Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Director.
Supervision Exercised
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Term of Employment
The Summer Camp Staff will work between 20 – 25 hours per week Monday through Friday, Noon to 4 p.m. from June 23 through August 15 at Granite Ridge School.The following duties are normal for the position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.

- Provides constant supervision and leadership for program participants.
- Responsible for assisting the Summer Camp Leader with daily and weekly activities.
- Assists with instructing and leading participants in games, arts-n-crafts, and storytelling/music and serves as a chaperone for all youth field trips and special events.
- Provides effective communication with the Summer Camp Leader
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Knowledge of supervising children in an educational or recreational setting and leading kids in active games and/or arts-n-crafts.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to withstand frequent standing, walking, and running during the day
