What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Basketball Camp Coordinator position at Village of DeForest?
The Basketball Camp Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and leading two youth basketball programs: the Beginner Boys Basketball Camp and the Beginner Girls Basketball Camp through the Village of DeForest Recreation & Community Enrichment Department. These programs aim to teach fundamental basketball skills, including ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, and defense, while fostering a fun and engaging environment for participants. The Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the camps, including instruction, age-based group activities, and facilitating games.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience coaching, teaching, or working with children is strongly preferred. Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and the ability to teach them effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage a group of children in a fun, engaging, and safe environment.
- Punctual and reliable, with the ability to adhere to the camp schedule.
- CPR, first aid, and AED certification are preferred.
- Must clear a background check.
- Village of DeForest Application must be completed before interviewing.
Special Requirements
- The hours Monday - Thursday are 8:15am – 11:00am.
- Camps start the third week of June and run for 4 weeks giving 8 classes for each session.
- The week of 4th of July is given off.
- Max of 20 participants per camp session.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
