What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zoning Administrator/Code official position at Village of Dennison?
Zoning Administration:
Responsible for the overall administration and enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance.
Accepts and reviews zoning permit applications. Determines compliance with the provisions of the ordinance and completeness of the application.
Issues appropriate land-use permit, maintains a complete file of permits issued, notifying applicant if the proposed use is not in compliance with the ordinance standards.
Performs inspection duties to ensure land use changes are in compliance with the Zoning Ordinance.
Attends planning commission (Zoning Board) meetings to report on zoning issues, evening meetings can be expected.
Zoning Enforcement:
Investigates alleged violations of the ordinance and advises landowners/applicants of necessary corrective measures and keeps an inventory of violations with photographs and evidence.
Develops recommendation regarding changes to zoning permits and amendments.
Keeps zoning map and office records up to date by recording and retaining all official documents. Makes copies of the ordinance available to the public.
Turns in written monthly and annual report of permits issued to Village Council.
Attends council meetings
Must have the ability to work and communicate with elected officials and the public with appropriate etiquette and diplomacy.
Assists the public, applicants, developers with zoning inquiries.
Be accessible to the public with established hours at the Village Hall.
Subject to work related calls after hours.
Qualifications:
Background in zoning administration and code enforcement.
A job history that includes construction and building experience would be very helpful
Ability to pay close attention to detail, telephone etiquette skills and good organization skills a must.
Must hold a current Ohio drivers license

Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
