Responsibilities
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Operate and drive the ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Assess patients condition, determine appropriate care, and administering treatment
- Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital basic and advanced treatments
- Understand basic medical-legal principles
- Monitor patient’s condition en route to the hospital
- Collaborate with different departments (other EMS Agencies, Fire Departments, Police Departments)
- Report observations and treatments
- Document concrete and accurate reports on incidents
- Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards
- Inventory, replace, and clean equipment and supplies after use
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Valid Illinois Drivers License
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- EMT-Basic Licensure or
- Paramedic Licensure
- Current BLS CPR Card
- Current ACLS Card (Paramedic)
- Current PALS Card (Paramedic)
- Must be in good standing with their current EMS System
- Must be able to make Morris Hospital EMS System-Region 7 their primary system
- Successful Completion of a criminal background check, physical, functional capacity evaluation, and drug screening
Compensation and Shift Schedule
- Full-Time Paramedic Base Salaries: $48,000- $62,356
- Full-Time EMT-Basic Base Salaries: $34,000- $44,169
- Starting pay will reflect experience
- Full-Time Paramedics shift schedule is as follows 24 hours on shift, 48 hours off shift
- Full-Time EMT-Basics shift schedule follows the pitman schedule working 0700 to 1900 on scheduled days
