What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian - Part- Time position at Village of Hanover Park?
Under supervision, performs a variety of manual tasks required for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the exterior and interior Village building facilities. This is a part-time position with 20 hours a week. The typical schedule is Monday - Friday from 5 pm - 9 pm.Checks exterior of building for debris and dispose of as needed, performs snow removal, washes windows, cleans and maintains all carpeted and non-carpeted floors, strips and waxes non-carpeted floors, scrubs bathroom floors once a week, operates machines, including floor scrubber, carpet shampoo/extractor, sets up, assists in the operation of, and takes down Village special events, and other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Operate Village vehicles to perform work at varies facilities, transport items, snowplow, etc.
Adheres to all Village policies and procedures within the department and as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality and a neat and tidy workspace.
Follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor. Reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible, but no later than end of the employee's work shift. Follows recognized safe work practices.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Completion of a High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and six (6) months of janitorial experience in an office, commercial, or industrial setting and elementary knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in office cleaning operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid IL driver’s license.
